For many years, the UJO has dedicated itself to stopping the spread of various diseases with our partners in government including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. We have worked to stop the outbreak of shigella, measles, chicken pox and lead poisoning through public education campaigns, as well as meeting with key stakeholders including doctors, schools, and community leadership. Through these partnership we have created culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate materials that resonate in the Yiddish speaking community.
