HEAP:
The New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) sends representatives to the UJO’s 32 Penn Street office to assist clients with applications to the Heating and Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), a government program that provides funds for gas and electric bills in the winter.

 Empower NY:
The UJO helps eligible clients apply for a grant from the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), a federal government program that works to help New York State residents save energy. The grant replaces old refrigerators and freezers with more energy efficient ones for free.

 Heartshare:
The UJO assists income eligible clients with applications for grants from Heartshare’s two subdivisions, Energy Share and the Neighborhood Heating Fund (NHF).

Energy Share: One-time $200 grant available to eligible New York City residents for emergency assistance with their electricity bill

Neighborhood Heating Fund:  $200 grant available at the beginning of winter to income eligible residents of small buildings to help with heating bills
