The UJO collaborates with and facilitates access to children’s programs including the Yeled V’Yalda Early Head Start Program. These include home-based services for families with infants and toddlers, a socialization center for toddlers and their families, a comprehensive maternal health program and parenting classes.
Special Education
The UJO acts as a community liaison to the Department of Education Committee on Preschool Special Education (CPSE) and Committee on Special Education (CSE). The UJO assists parents with writing initial referrals, obtaining evaluations and therapeutic services such as speech, occupational, physical and vision therapies, and tutoring and counseling for their children. In addition the UJO provides troubleshooting assistance for families encountering difficulties navigating the special education process and advocates on behalf of the community to the Department of Education (DOE) for streamlined procedures and culturally sensitive policies.
NYC Children’s Services
The UJO helps families apply for Home Attendants or Home Makers in case of a parent or child with an illness or disability.
